HIGH CHOLESTEROL/HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA

WHAT IS IT?

High amounts of cholesterol in the blood. This can limit blood flow and increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Hypercholesterolemia is identified by a blood test requested by your GP

SYMPTOMS

There are generally no symptoms of high cholesterol and is a silent condition

HOW CAN EXERCISE HELP?

Exercise along with a healthy diet can lower the levels of cholesterol in the blood. Exercise can include aerobic and resistance based activity. It is recommended to perform approximately 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week. If you are sedentary it is essential to start slow when beginning exercise and to seek advice from an accredited exercise physiologist to design a specific program to your needs and goals
